Right now, we’re laying the foundation—sharing tips and insights through social media, alongside our curated physical storefront in Malanda, FNQ: a place where healthy living feels tangible, sophisticated, and achievable. A small space guided by the feedback and support of the community we’re building.
Next, we’ll bring the brand to life with live workshops. These will offer the opportunity to learn about different environmental stressors in your home and, of course, provide practical guidance on how to address and prevent them.
Eventually, I hope to expand Hjem Haus into a full wellness hub—offering services, trusted professionals, and ongoing education for every stage of your healthy home and wellness journey.
It will be the place that makes life easier for you—the person who values their health, appreciates aesthetics and design, and supports high-quality brands making a difference, but doesn’t have time for hours of research.
The meaning of
HJEM HAUS
Hjem (pronounced yem) is the Norwegian word for "home."
Haus (pronounced house) is the German word for "house."
Together, Hjem Haus leans into thoughtful design and intentional living, inspired by Scandic and European wisdom and aesthetics that value warmth and simplicity.
The name also reflects my personal vision: to build my own home incorporating Passivehaus principles & Building Biology (Baubiologie), combining the simplicity of Scandinavian design & wisdom of European cultures.
These cultures live in tune with nature, embrace the seasons, and design homes to nurture health and wellbeing. It’s no mistake that the Scandic countries are frequently at the top of the happiest places to live.
My goal is to bring that same sense of wellbeing and intention to our local homes and communities, adapted for the unique needs of our Australian climate.
